Fashion is an indicator of the times. Looking at clothing of a certain period gives the viewer a sense of what people and attitudes were like. For example, during World War II trenchcoats were popular, making the wearers look military.
Look at the following links to see what people wore in the late 1950s early 1960's. Notice what people were wearing, the materials, the styles, (formal or informal dress) and how comfortable or uncomfortable the clothing looked.

1)From what you observed, what was considered appropriate clothing for students during the 1960s?
2)How was the fashion similar or different from what students wear today? Explain.
3) Do you think the clothes look comfortable or uncomfortable? Why?
1)I have observed that different people where different things, some people wear lots of layers some people wear a jacket and some people wear there normal everyday clothing because they cannot afford anything else.
ReplyDelete2)Today people have more money so people can afford more, the materials are different and people these days wear more accesories.
3)I think the clothing they used to wear looks very uncomfortable, they have a lot more modern materials now and because people couldn't afford the expensive materials we have now.

From what I observed people wore different things like the Watsons, some people in Flint. in the winter would wear many layers. As other people would wear only wear one coat or jacket because they were used to the cold. Other people, who didn't have enough money to afford winter clothes, would just wear their normal clothes.
ReplyDeleteFashion these days are different from back then because now we have more materials. Also back then they didn't wear or carry around so many accessories.
I think now a days things are more comfortable because we have new materials to make clothing softer or just more comfortable.

Appropriate clothing for students in the 1960's was ofr boys a whie button down shirt,a tie,a belt, and nice pants and for girls a collared jumper or dress with a white shirt underneath amd flats or loafers. From waht it looks like studnets from the 1960's dress formally. Today students dress casually, girls would wear a shirt and skirt with sneakers or boots and boys would wear a polo shirt and cargo pants with sneakers unless you went to a school with a dress code and then you would usually wear navy and white. The clothing students wore from the 1960's looked uncomfortable because they would be wearing many layers and had to wear collared shirts and would have to look all nice and stay like that all day.
ReplyDelete1. I think that what was appropriate was clothing that was more fancy than what we wear to school today.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the fashion in the 1960s was very different from today. They were more formal and all the girls wore dresses and the boys wore button down shirts.
3. I think the clothes look uncomfortable.the dresses look stiff and not soft and the boys shirts also dont look very soft and cozy.

1) I think appropriate clothing for students in the '60's was a button down shirt with jeans for boys and a button down shirt with a skirt for girls.
ReplyDelete2) In some ways it is similar and in some ways it was different. Boys at SAR still have to wear collars, and girls still have to wear skirts but we don't wear button down shirts.
3) I think that the jeans look more comfortable than school pants but everything else is less comfortable.

1) Appropriate clothing included wearing sweaters (boys), dresses (girls), ties, cackies etc.
ReplyDelete2) The fashion back then was different from what we wear today because some schools have skirts to the knees, collared shirts and a pair of appropriate pants (no jeans or sweatpants) But it is also similar to other schools because other schools have to wear uniforms or certain colors, shirts, pants etc.
3) The clothing back then looked slightly uncomfortable because back then you couldn't just throw on a pair of sweatpants. They didn't have that and once you back from school you basically wore the same outfit the whole day until you either showered or you're getting ready for bed. Girls didn't have maxi dresses like we do. They had to wear stiff uncomfortable dresses and boys wore tight pants. So fashion back then didn't include the most comfortable articles of clothing.

1. The appropriate clothing for the 60s was considered to be polos and suspenders for boys, and dresses for girls.
ReplyDelete2.I think it is similar because boys still wear polos and girls still wear dresses.
3.I think it looks comfortable because it looks very loose and simple. It looks like something that you can easily take on and off.

1) From what I observed a suit or a collared shirt with a tie was considered appropriate clothing for students during the 1960s.
ReplyDelete2) The clothes back then is similar to the clothing now the the clothing that the boys are wearing that people would wear now.
3) The clothing looks very uncomfortable wearing those clothes probably feels like wearing very uncomfortable Shabbat clothes.
